Gundam Assemble Deluxe Set 02 (DX02)
The battle moves to the Cosmic Era. Build your forces, paint your Mobile Suits and take the war of Gundam SEED onto the tabletop.
The Gundam Assemble Deluxe Set 02 (DX02) is a major boxed expansion for Bandai’s Gundam Assemble miniature tabletop battle game, this time focusing on the world of Mobile Suit Gundam SEED.
Featuring 14 unpainted miniatures, DX02 brings together famous Earth Alliance and ZAFT machines alongside battleship-class units for larger, more tactical engagements.
With story-driven scenarios, an asymmetrical 5-vs-3 battle, two game maps, terrain, cards, dice and everything required to bring its scenarios to life, DX02 considerably expands the scale of Gundam Assemble.
Gundam SEED Comes to Gundam Assemble
For Deluxe Set 02, Gundam Assemble heads into the Cosmic Era.
Mobile Suit Gundam SEED introduced an entirely new generation of Gundams, pilots and factions, and DX02 brings some of the series’ most recognisable machines together in miniature form.
At the centre of everything is naturally the Strike Gundam.
But this isn’t simply one Strike miniature surrounded by generic units.
DX02 explores the Strike’s different equipment configurations while also bringing several of ZAFT’s stolen G-Project Gundams and other iconic machines onto the battlefield.
14 Miniatures in One Deluxe Set
DX02 contains a substantial selection of 14 unpainted miniatures.
The currently listed machines include favourites such as the Strike Gundam, Aile Strike Gundam, Sword Strike Gundam, Launcher Strike Gundam, Skygrasper, Moebius Zero, Archangel, Duel Gundam Assault Shroud, Buster Gundam, Blitz Gundam, Aegis Gundam, ZnO and LaGOWE.
It’s a fantastic cross-section of early Gundam SEED, covering Gundams, support craft, mass-production equipment and larger battlefield units.
Strike Gundam
The GAT-X105 Strike Gundam is naturally one of the headline machines.
Piloted by Kira Yamato, the Strike becomes the central Earth Alliance Mobile Suit during the opening stages of Gundam SEED.
Its ability to use different Striker Packs allows the machine to adapt to dramatically different combat situations.
And DX02 makes very good use of that idea.
Aile Strike Gundam
Fit the Strike with the Aile Striker and you’ve got one of the most recognisable Gundams of the Cosmic Era.
The Aile Strike emphasises mobility and general-purpose combat, creating the configuration most closely associated with Kira throughout much of the series.
For many Gundam SEED fans, this is simply how the Strike is supposed to look.
Sword Strike Gundam
Prefer getting considerably closer?
There’s the Sword Strike Gundam.
Built around close-range combat, the Sword Striker gives the Strike a dramatically different battlefield role and one of the most distinctive silhouettes of the early SEED Gundams.
On the tabletop, having different versions of the same core Mobile Suit also creates some very interesting possibilities for building themed forces.
Launcher Strike Gundam
At the opposite end of the argument is the Launcher Strike Gundam.
Rather than getting close enough to see the whites of the enemy pilot’s eyes, the Launcher configuration concentrates on heavy ranged firepower.
Aile.
Sword.
Launcher.
Three different approaches to solving essentially the same problem.
And DX02 lets the Strike represent all of them.
Skygrasper
The FX-550 Skygrasper brings additional Earth Alliance support to the set.
The aircraft is closely associated with the Strike and its Striker Pack system, making it an excellent inclusion in a set focused around the early battles of Gundam SEED.
It also gives the battlefield more variety than simply filling both sides with humanoid Mobile Suits.
Moebius Zero
The distinctive TS-MA2mod.00 Moebius Zero is another welcome addition.
Associated with Mu La Flaga, the Mobile Armour provides another very different type of unit for the Earth Alliance side.
For long-time SEED fans, its inclusion alongside the Strike, Skygrasper and Archangel helps make DX02 feel like a proper collection of machines from the series rather than simply a Gundam selection box.
Archangel
Then there’s the LCAM-01XA Archangel.
One of the most famous ships in the Cosmic Era is represented as a battleship-class unit, allowing DX02’s scenarios to operate on a much larger scale than a straightforward Mobile Suit skirmish.
The Archangel isn’t simply scenery sitting at the edge of the battlefield.
Battleship-class units form part of the tactical experience offered by the Deluxe Set.
Which means your Gundam battle has officially escalated.
Duel Gundam Assault Shroud
ZAFT’s captured G-Project machines are also strongly represented.
The Duel Gundam Assault Shroud, piloted by Yzak Joule, brings the heavily equipped version of the Duel into the set.
The additional Assault Shroud equipment gives the normally straightforward Duel a much more substantial appearance and makes it immediately recognisable among the original five G-Project Gundams.
Buster Gundam
The Buster Gundam brings serious ranged firepower to the ZAFT side.
Piloted by Dearka Elsman, the Buster specialises in long-range attacks using its enormous weapon systems.
It’s also one of those Gundam designs that should translate brilliantly into miniature form.
Huge guns.
Small model.
Excellent combination.
Blitz Gundam
The Blitz Gundam, piloted by Nicol Amalfi, brings something very different.
Its sleek black armour immediately distinguishes it from the other G-Project machines, while its stealth-oriented design gives the Blitz one of the most distinctive identities among the original SEED Gundams.
For painters, that darker colour scheme also provides a very different project from the traditional Gundam white, red and blue.
Aegis Gundam
And then there’s Athrun Zala’s Aegis Gundam.
The Aegis is one of the most important rival machines encountered by Kira during the first part of Gundam SEED, making its inclusion alongside the Strike essential.
Strike versus Aegis.
Kira versus Athrun.
You already know the battle you want to recreate.
Whether it ends the same way is now up to you and the dice.
LaGOWE
The TMF/A-803 LaGOWE brings one of SEED’s most distinctive ground-combat designs into Gundam Assemble.
Associated with Andrew Waltfeld, the LaGOWE’s quadrupedal configuration immediately stands apart from the humanoid Gundams surrounding it.
It’s exactly the sort of machine that makes a miniature battlefield visually interesting.
Not everything in Gundam needs two arms, two legs and a V-fin.
More Than Just Gundams
That’s one of DX02’s biggest strengths.
The set isn’t simply fourteen variations of humanoid Gundams.
You’ve got Gundams.
Mobile Suits.
Mobile Armours.
Aircraft.
Ground-combat machines.
And battleship-class equipment.
That variety gives the completed collection the feeling of an actual Gundam SEED battlefield.
Asymmetrical 5-vs-3 Battles
One of DX02’s headline gameplay features is support for an asymmetrical 5-vs-3 scenario.
That immediately changes the way the battle needs to be approached.
More units don’t automatically mean victory.
Different forces, objectives and capabilities mean players need to think about how their side actually operates rather than simply lining up equal numbers of Mobile Suits and charging toward the middle.
Story-Driven Scenarios
DX02 is designed around story-inspired scenario battles.
That means you can recreate the atmosphere of Mobile Suit Gundam SEED rather than simply using the miniatures in completely abstract skirmishes.
Familiar machines.
Familiar rivalries.
Familiar factions.
But once the game begins, the outcome is no longer predetermined.
Maybe Kira wins.
Maybe Athrun wins.
Maybe the entire carefully constructed strategy collapses because somebody rolls terribly.
Welcome to tabletop gaming.
Create Your Own Battles
You’re not restricted to recreating the anime.
Gundam Assemble is designed to support original battles and eventually cross-universe encounters as your collection expands.
Combine units from different sets.
Build unusual forces.
Put machines together that never fought alongside one another.
Or create the Gundam match-up you’ve been arguing about for the last twenty years and finally settle it properly.
With dice.
Which will obviously end the argument permanently.
Probably.
Build Your Miniatures
The 14 miniatures are supplied unpainted, making the modelling side an important part of the Gundam Assemble experience.
Rather than opening the box and immediately placing pre-painted figures onto the battlefield, you get to build and customise your own force.
For Gunpla builders, that process should feel immediately familiar.
Remove the components.
Clean the gates.
Assemble the miniature.
Then decide how far you’re going to take it.
Paint Them Your Way
You can reproduce the familiar colours from Gundam SEED.
Or don’t.
Create a desert Strike.
A custom ZAFT squadron.
Battle-damaged G-Project Gundams.
Different military markings.
Weathered ground units.
Metallic weapons.
Custom ace colours.
The miniature format provides a completely different painting experience from working on a conventional HG or MG Gunpla.
Approximately 50mm Miniature Format
Gundam Assemble is based around compact approximately 50mm Gunpla miniatures, with dimensions naturally varying according to the individual unit.
That keeps armies manageable on the tabletop while still providing enough surface detail for painting and customisation.
And because you’re working at a much smaller size than conventional Gunpla, you can gradually build an entire force without needing another display cabinet every six months.
Well.
That’s the theory.
Two Game Maps
DX02 includes two game maps for its larger engagements.
These provide the battlefield for the included scenarios and give players room to manoeuvre their growing forces.
Positioning becomes particularly important when battleship-class units and asymmetric forces enter the game.
Terrain Included
A set of paper/cardboard terrain is included to add physical battlefield features to the maps.
This helps turn the playing surface into a proper combat environment rather than simply an empty area where two groups of Mobile Suits politely walk towards one another.
Experienced hobbyists can naturally take this much further with custom terrain and scenic pieces.
Unit & Tactics Cards
DX02 contains the Unit Cards and Tactics Cards required for its forces.
Each Gundam Assemble unit has game characteristics designed around the capabilities and identity of the machine it represents.
That allows the difference between machines to matter on the tabletop rather than every miniature simply behaving identically.
Scenario Objectives
Scenario Objective Cards help define what each side is actually trying to achieve.
That adds considerably more tactical depth than simply destroying everything belonging to your opponent.
You may have more units.
You may have the bigger Gundam.
You may even have a battleship.
None of that necessarily helps if you’ve completely ignored the mission.
Dice, Tokens & Game Components
DX02 provides the supporting components required for its battles, including game tokens and a set of 10-sided Attack Dice.
A Handbook and two Quick-Reference Guides are also included to help players learn and manage the game.

Why Add Gundam Assemble Deluxe Set 02 (DX02) to Your Collection?
Because DX02 brings one of Gundam’s most popular universes properly onto the Gundam Assemble battlefield.
Rather than focusing solely on the headline Gundams, the Deluxe Set brings together the Strike’s different configurations, ZAFT’s captured G-Project machines, support craft, specialist units and battleship-class equipment.
For Gundam SEED fans, it’s an impressive miniature collection.
For painters, it’s fourteen new projects.
For tabletop gamers, it’s a substantial selection of units and scenarios.
And for Gundam Assemble players, it’s another major expansion of what’s possible on the battlefield.
Add Gundam Assemble Deluxe Set 02 (DX02) to your collection and prepare for war in the Cosmic Era. Build your forces. Paint your Mobile Suits. Deploy the Archangel. Then put Kira and Athrun back on opposite sides of the battlefield and see what happens this time.
