Build them. Paint them. Deploy them. Then decide the outcome of the One Year War for yourself.

The Gundam Assemble Deluxe Set 01 (DX01) is a major boxed set for Bandai’s Gundam Assemble miniature tabletop battle game, combining the modelling experience of Gunpla with tactical tabletop combat.

Featuring 13 unpainted miniatures approximately 50mm in size, DX01 brings together iconic Earth Federation and Principality of Zeon units from the original Mobile Suit Gundam. The set expands the battlefield with larger 5-vs-5 encounters, battleship-class units, terrain, multiple scenarios and everything needed to explore a much bigger Gundam Assemble battle.

What is Gundam Assemble?

Gundam Assemble takes the building and customisation experience familiar to Gunpla fans and brings it onto the tabletop.

Instead of simply building your Mobile Suit and putting it in the cabinet, Gundam Assemble gives each unit its own game characteristics and abilities.

Build your miniature.

Paint it however you want.

Put it on the battlefield.

Then fight.

Bandai describes Gundam Assemble as a miniature battle game featuring approximately 50mm Gunpla, with units drawn from the different worlds and timelines of Gundam.

A Proper Deluxe Gundam Assemble Box

DX01 isn’t simply a larger collection of miniatures.

It’s designed to significantly expand the scale of Gundam Assemble battles.

The Deluxe Set introduces 5-vs-5 scenarios, larger game maps, additional tactical components and even battleship-class units.

That means you’re no longer dealing exclusively with Mobile Suits fighting one another across a small battlefield.

You’ve got the White Base.

You’ve got a Musai.

And suddenly things have escalated considerably.

13 Gundam Assemble Miniatures

The centrepiece of DX01 is its impressive collection of 13 unpainted miniatures.

The included units are:

  • RX-75 Guntank
  • RX-78-2 Gundam with Hyper Bazooka
  • RX-77-2 Guncannon
  • RGM-79 GM
  • SCV-70 White Base
  • Ball
  • Oggo
  • Zaku II
  • Zaku I
  • Dom
  • MSN-02 Zeong
  • Zeong Head
  • Musai

That’s a fantastic selection of machines from the original Mobile Suit Gundam, ranging from mass-production Mobile Suits through to some of the most famous machines of the One Year War.

Earth Federation Forces

On the Federation side you’ve got some absolute classics.

RX-78-2 Gundam.

Guncannon.

Guntank.

GM.

Ball.

And towering over the battlefield, the legendary White Base.

That gives you the core machines associated with the original Mobile Suit Gundam alongside the mass-production forces that helped turn the tide of the One Year War.

The RX-78-2 included in DX01 is represented carrying its Hyper Bazooka, giving this version its own distinctive battlefield appearance.

Principality of Zeon Forces

Naturally, Zeon isn’t turning up empty-handed.

DX01 includes the Zaku I, Zaku II, Dom, Oggo, Zeong and Zeong Head, together with the Musai.

That gives Zeon everything from early and mass-production Mobile Suits through to one of the most extraordinary machines deployed during the final battle at A Baoa Qu.

And yes.

The Zeong Head gets its own miniature.

Anyone familiar with the final battle between Amuro and Char will understand exactly why.

Battleship-Class Units

One of the most interesting elements of Deluxe Set 01 is the inclusion of large spacecraft as playable battlefield units.

The Federation receives the White Base, while Zeon can deploy the Musai.

These aren’t simply decorative terrain pieces. DX01 is specifically designed to introduce battleship-class units into its larger scenarios, expanding the tactical scale beyond Mobile Suit skirmishes.

Battle of A Baoa Qu

The headline narrative scenario in DX01 is based around the legendary Battle of A Baoa Qu.

This is the climactic battle of the original Mobile Suit Gundam and one of the most important engagements in Universal Century history.

Bandai uses it as the basis for a 5-vs-5 scenario featuring two battleships, allowing players to recreate the atmosphere of the final confrontation between Federation and Zeon forces.

RX-78-2.

Zeong.

White Base.

Musai.

You can probably see where this is going.

Four Playable Scenarios

DX01 isn’t limited to A Baoa Qu.

The set contains materials for four scenarios in total.

Alongside the narrative A Baoa Qu battle, you get a universal 5-vs-5 scenario and two 3-vs-3 scenarios.

That gives the box considerably more replay value and means you don’t have to reproduce the same historical engagement every time you play.

You can follow Gundam history.

Or completely ignore it.

Want the GM to somehow become the hero of the One Year War?

It’s your table.

Good luck.

Story Battles or Your Own Gundam History

One of Gundam Assemble’s most interesting ideas is the ability to move between established scenarios and completely original battles.

Individual units have statistics and abilities intended to reflect their characteristics, but you’re not restricted to recreating events exactly as they occurred in the anime.

As the Gundam Assemble range grows, that’s where things could get particularly interesting.

Different Gundams.

Different generations.

Different timelines.

One tabletop.

Arguments will undoubtedly follow.

Build Your Army

The miniatures are supplied unpainted and require assembly, making the modelling side of Gundam Assemble an important part of the experience rather than simply something you take out of the box and immediately start playing with.

For Gunpla builders, that’s familiar territory.

Clip the components from the runners.

Assemble the miniature.

Clean up the gates.

Then decide how far you want to take the finish.

Paint Them Your Way

The included miniatures can be customised with your own colour schemes.

You can stay completely faithful to the anime.

Add shading and weathering.

Create battlefield-damaged versions.

Paint unit markings.

Build your own Zeon squadron.

Create a custom Federation force.

Or decide that Char clearly hadn’t committed hard enough to the colour red.

Unlike a conventional pre-painted miniatures game, the modelling side becomes part of building your army.

Around 50mm Scale

Gundam Assemble miniatures are approximately 50mm in size, although the dimensions naturally vary depending on the unit.

That gives enough physical size for the sculpts to retain recognisable Mobile Suit detailing while keeping armies compact enough for tabletop play.

For existing Gunpla painters, they’re also a completely different challenge from painting an HG or MG.

The techniques are familiar.

The working area isn’t.

Get the tiny brushes ready.

Two Game Maps

Deluxe Set 01 includes two game maps, giving the larger engagements significantly more room to develop.

This is particularly important for the 5-vs-5 scenarios and battles involving ships.

The larger battlefield creates more opportunities for positioning, objectives and tactical movement rather than simply charging everything toward the centre and seeing which Mobile Suit is still standing five minutes later.

Although that remains a perfectly valid strategy.

Probably.

Cardboard Terrain

DX01 also contains a set of cardboard terrain objects.

These add physical battlefield features to the maps, helping break up the playing area and create a more interesting tabletop environment.

They’re particularly suitable for the space-combat setting of the A Baoa Qu scenario.

And naturally there’s plenty of scope for experienced modellers to start building their own custom Gundam terrain later.

Because apparently building and painting an entire army wasn’t going to be enough.

Unit Cards

A set of Unit Cards provides the game information required for the included forces.

Rather than every Mobile Suit simply behaving like a different-shaped miniature, Gundam Assemble gives units characteristics and abilities designed to represent what makes those machines distinctive.

That means choosing your force isn’t purely about which Gundam looks coolest.

Although we suspect that’s still going to influence a lot of army selection.

Tactics Cards

DX01 also includes a set of Tactics Cards, adding another strategic layer to your battles.

Together with unit abilities, scenario objectives and battlefield positioning, these help make Gundam Assemble more than simply pushing models toward one another and rolling dice.

Scenario Objective Cards

Scenario Objective Cards are also included.

These work with the different scenarios to give players actual battlefield goals.

That becomes particularly important with the larger battles in Deluxe Set 01.

Destroying the opposing army is one thing.

Completing your mission while stopping the enemy from completing theirs is another.

Attack Dice

The box contains a set of 10-sided Attack Dice required for resolving combat.

So once everything is built, painted and deployed, you have the components needed to start settling those arguments about which Mobile Suit would win the old-fashioned tabletop way.

Roll for it.

Handbook & Quick-Reference Guides

Bandai includes a Handbook alongside two Quick-Reference Guides.

The quick-reference sheets are particularly useful once both players understand the fundamentals and simply need important game information available without constantly searching through the full handbook.

Ideal for Gunpla Builders Moving into Tabletop Gaming

Gundam Assemble sits in a very interesting position.

Gunpla builders already understand the modelling side.

Tabletop gamers already understand building forces, learning rules, painting miniatures and fighting scenarios.

Gundam Assemble brings those worlds together.

For a Gunpla builder, it provides a reason to actually play with the models you’ve built.

For a tabletop gamer, it provides an enormous Gundam universe of Mobile Suits, pilots and factions to explore.

And for anyone who’s both?

This could become dangerous for the wallet.

Deluxe Set 01 Contents

The Gundam Assemble Deluxe Set 01 (DX01) is scheduled as part of the first major Gundam Assemble rollout in October 2026.

Why Add Gundam Assemble Deluxe Set 01 (DX01) to Your Collection?

Because this isn’t just another collection of Gundam miniatures.

DX01 gives you the models, battlefield and scenarios to start recreating one of the most important battles in Gundam history.

You’ve got the RX-78-2 Gundam.

You’ve got the Zeong.

You’ve got the White Base.

You’ve got the Musai.

You’ve got Federation mass-production units and Zeon forces.

And you’ve got the scenario material to bring the Battle of A Baoa Qu onto the tabletop.

But you’re not restricted to history. Four included scenarios, 5-vs-5 battles and Gundam Assemble’s expandable miniature system mean DX01 can become the foundation of a much larger tabletop collection.

For Gunpla builders, Universal Century fans, miniature painters, tabletop gamers or anyone who has ever watched Gundam and thought they could have handled the One Year War better, Deluxe Set 01 is where things start getting serious.

Build your Mobile Suits. Paint your forces. Deploy the fleet. Roll the dice. A Baoa Qu isn’t going to fight itself.
