Take your Gunpla collection to new heights with the Bandai Gundam 00 Sky HGBD 1/144, a striking High Grade model kit from Gundam Build Divers, featuring powerful Sky Drive Units, impressive articulation, distinctive blue-and-white armour and an exciting selection of weapons.
The Gundam 00 Sky HG 1/144 is the upgraded Gunpla created and piloted by Riku Mikami, the main protagonist of Gundam Build Divers.
Combining the advanced technology of the Gundam 00 series with design influences from the legendary Destiny Gundam, the Gundam 00 Sky represents Riku’s continued development as a Gunpla builder and fighter.
Its distinctive silhouette, large shoulder-mounted equipment and versatile weapon systems make it one of the most recognisable designs from the Build Divers series.
Bandai’s High Grade release captures the Gundam’s dynamic appearance with detailed colour separation, articulated construction and multiple display possibilities.
GN-0000DVR/S Gundam 00 Sky – Riku’s Ultimate Upgrade
The GN-0000DVR/S Gundam 00 Sky appears in Gundam Build Divers, the anime series centred around the virtual Gunpla Battle Nexus Online world, commonly known as GBN.
In this digital environment, players build and customise their own Gunpla before entering battles, missions and competitions.
Riku Mikami begins his journey with the Gundam 00 Diver, a customised version of the Gundam 00.
As his experience grows, he develops the improved Gundam 00 Diver Ace before eventually creating the more powerful Gundam 00 Sky.
The new machine incorporates design concepts inspired by the ZGMF-X42S Destiny Gundam, blending elements from two different Gundam universes into a single customised Gunpla.
The result is a Mobile Suit that combines the high-performance equipment of Gundam 00 with the aggressive combat styling of Gundam SEED Destiny.
Inspired by Gundam 00 and Destiny Gundam
One of the most interesting aspects of the Gundam 00 Sky is the way it combines different Gundam design philosophies.
Its central structure and twin-drive heritage originate from the Gundam 00.
However, its powerful shoulder-mounted equipment, distinctive silhouette and specialised combat abilities draw inspiration from the Destiny Gundam.
This combination gives the Gundam 00 Sky a unique appearance while maintaining clear connections to its predecessors.
For collectors who enjoy both Mobile Suit Gundam 00 and Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny, the design offers a fascinating crossover of mechanical concepts.
Powerful Sky Drive Units
The Gundam 00 Sky features distinctive Sky Drive Units mounted around its shoulders.
These large assemblies are among the most recognisable features of the machine.
They contribute significantly to the Gundam’s silhouette, creating a broad and aggressive appearance that immediately separates it from the original Gundam 00 Diver.
Bandai reproduces these units with articulated components, allowing builders to adjust their positioning for different display configurations.
The resulting appearance is particularly impressive when the model is posed in flight.
Dynamic High Grade Articulation
The HGBD Gundam 00 Sky incorporates articulated shoulders, arms, waist, hips, knees and ankles.
Its construction allows a variety of action poses, from conventional standing displays to more dramatic aerial combat configurations.
The shoulder-mounted equipment can be repositioned to complement the Gundam’s pose.
This is particularly useful when displaying the model with its weapons deployed.
Whether recreating scenes from Gundam Build Divers or designing your own battle poses, the Gundam 00 Sky offers excellent display potential.
Buster Sword
The Gundam 00 Sky includes its distinctive Buster Sword, a large close-combat weapon designed to deliver powerful melee attacks.
The weapon complements the Gundam’s aggressive appearance and provides an impressive alternative to its ranged equipment.
Its substantial size makes it particularly effective in dramatic attack poses.
Combine the Buster Sword with the model’s articulated arms and shoulder equipment for a striking display.
Long Rifle
For ranged combat, the kit includes the Long Rifle, giving the Gundam 00 Sky a powerful-looking firearm.
The rifle’s elongated design contrasts with the bulkier Buster Sword and provides a different style of combat presentation.
It can be equipped for aiming poses or combined with the Gundam’s other equipment to create a fully armed appearance.
Together, the Long Rifle and Buster Sword reflect the machine’s versatility in Gunpla battles.
Beam Sabers
The Gundam 00 Sky also features Beam Saber equipment for close-range combat.
These familiar Gundam weapons provide additional flexibility when creating battle scenes.
The included beam-effect parts allow the model to be displayed with its energy blades activated.
Beam Sabers are particularly effective for recreating fast-moving combat poses inspired by the anime.
Beam Rifle & Beam Sword Configurations
The Gundam 00 Sky’s equipment incorporates elements inspired by the weapons and fighting styles of its predecessor machines.
The design supports both ranged and close-combat configurations, giving the completed model a versatile battlefield appearance.
For builders who enjoy displaying Gunpla with different weapon combinations, this makes the Gundam 00 Sky particularly appealing.
Distinctive Blue, White & Yellow Armour
The Gundam 00 Sky features a striking colour scheme dominated by white and blue armour, complemented by yellow and red details.
Its distinctive head design, angular chest armour and large shoulder equipment give it an unmistakable appearance.
Bandai reproduces the primary colours using colour-moulded plastic components.
This allows the completed model to achieve a convincing appearance without requiring a full paint job.
Additional detailing can further enhance the finished result.
Excellent for Custom Gunpla Projects
Because the Gundam 00 Sky originates from the Gundam Build Divers universe, it is particularly well suited to customisation.
The entire concept of the series revolves around builders modifying and combining Gunpla to create unique machines.
The Gundam 00 Sky reflects this philosophy perfectly.
Builders can experiment with alternative colour schemes, additional weapons, custom markings and compatible equipment.
The model also provides an excellent foundation for more ambitious custom Gunpla projects.
Whether you prefer a clean anime-inspired finish or a completely original design, the Gundam 00 Sky offers plenty of creative possibilities.
Panel Lining & Painting Opportunities
The Gundam 00 Sky features a variety of armour surfaces and mechanical details that can be enhanced with additional finishing techniques.
Careful panel lining helps emphasise the separation between armour sections.
Metallic detailing can highlight the mechanical components around the joints and shoulder-mounted equipment.
A matt topcoat can create a clean anime-inspired appearance, while subtle shading can give the armour greater depth.
For experienced modellers, a complete custom paint scheme can transform the Gundam 00 Sky into an entirely new machine.
Snap-Fit Construction
Like other Bandai High Grade Gunpla kits, the Gundam 00 Sky HGBD 1/144 uses colour-moulded plastic parts and snap-fit assembly.
Glue is not required for normal construction.
The kit provides an enjoyable building experience for modellers familiar with Bandai’s High Grade range.
Painting is optional, although additional panel lining and detailing can enhance the finished appearance.
