Bring Shinn Asuka’s devastatingly powerful Destiny Gundam Spec II from Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM to your collection with the enormous HG 1/144 Destiny Gundam Spec II & Zeus Silhouette from Bandai Spirits.

And when we say enormous, we mean it.

The Zeus Silhouette alone measures over 500mm long in its independent configuration. Combine that with the Destiny Gundam Spec II, Wings of Light, Arondight Beam Sword, long-range beam cannon, missile systems and a pair of included display bases, and you’ve got one of the most outrageous High Grade packages Bandai has produced.

Destiny Gundam Spec II

The ZGMF/A-42S2 Destiny Gundam Spec II is the upgraded version of Shinn Asuka’s original ZGMF-X42S Destiny Gundam, returning during the events of Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM.

Externally it’s immediately recognisable as Destiny, but the Spec II incorporates improvements including a revised power system and cockpit, while retaining the devastating collection of close and long-range weapons that made the original machine so formidable.

More importantly:

Shinn gets back into a Destiny.

And things go very badly for everyone standing on the other side.

The Zeus Silhouette

The star of this particular release is undoubtedly the A-GXQ754/V2 Zeus Silhouette.

Originally developed as equipment for the Destiny Gundam, the Zeus Silhouette centres around an absolutely enormous linear cannon.

According to Bandai’s own kit documentation, the weapon had previously been sealed away because its destructive power was considered too dangerous. Its enormous energy requirements also meant that sustained operation required a nuclear-powered Mobile Suit.

In other words, somebody looked at Destiny Gundam and thought:

“Needs a bigger gun.”

Over Half a Metre Long

This is where the scale gets ridiculous.

Despite being a 1/144 High Grade, the independent Zeus Silhouette configuration reaches over 500mm in length.

That’s more than half a metre.

So while Destiny itself has the familiar dimensions of an HG Gundam, the complete display occupies considerably more space than most kits in the range.

You may want to measure the shelf first.

Seriously.

Standalone Zeus Silhouette Configuration

The Zeus Silhouette doesn’t have to remain attached to Destiny.

Bandai allows the complete system to be assembled into its independent support configuration, creating an enormous machine that can be displayed separately from the Gundam.

The included Action Bases allow the Zeus Silhouette and its components to be properly supported rather than relying on the builder to somehow balance half a metre of plastic on the shelf.

Massive Linear Cannon

At the centre of the Zeus Silhouette is the enormous linear cannon.

The weapon completely dwarfs Destiny Gundam itself and becomes the focal point of the fully equipped configuration.

It’s less “Gundam holding a gun.”

More:

“Gun with a Gundam attached.”

The cannon can be positioned using its articulated mounting system, allowing you to recreate the heavily armed firing configuration seen in SEED FREEDOM.

Opening Missile Hatches

There’s plenty happening across the rest of the Zeus Silhouette too.

Hatches located across the back and leg equipment can be opened, while replacement components allow the exposed missile warheads to be recreated.

This gives you the option of displaying the equipment closed for a cleaner appearance or fully deployed and ready for combat.

Naturally, fully deployed is considerably more ridiculous.

Therefore fully deployed is probably correct.

Wings of Light

Destiny wouldn’t be Destiny without those enormous Wings of Light.

Bandai includes clear effect components that attach to the deployed wings, dramatically increasing the visual footprint of the completed model.

They’re especially effective when Destiny is displayed airborne on one of the included bases.

Add the Zeus Silhouette and suddenly your 1/144 High Grade is occupying roughly the same amount of shelf space as something considerably larger.

Arondight Beam Sword

The enormous MMI-714 Arondight Beam Sword is included.

Stored on Destiny’s backpack in its normal configuration, the weapon unfolds into one of the machine’s signature close-combat weapons.

Destiny’s articulation allows for suitably aggressive two-handed sword poses, while the enormous blade contrasts brilliantly with the Wings of Light.

Sometimes half a metre of artillery isn’t enough.

Sometimes Shinn needs a sword.

High-Energy Long-Range Beam Cannon

The M2000GX High-Energy Long-Range Beam Cannon is also included.

Mounted to Destiny’s backpack, the cannon can swing forward for use, giving the Gundam another substantial ranged weapon even without the Zeus Silhouette attached.

So even in its “normal” configuration, Destiny Spec II isn’t exactly travelling light.

High-Energy Beam Rifle

For slightly less excessive ranged combat, Destiny includes its conventional High-Energy Beam Rifle.

The rifle can be held normally or mounted onto the rear waist armour when not required.

Combine it with the physical shield for the more familiar Destiny Gundam appearance.

Flash-Edge 2 Beam Boomerangs

The two shoulder-mounted Flash-Edge 2 Beam Boomerangs haven’t been forgotten.

Clear beam effect components are included, allowing the weapons to be removed from the shoulders and displayed in use.

These can provide another close-combat option alongside the considerably larger Arondight.

Palma Fiocina

One of Destiny’s most recognisable weapons is built directly into its hands.

The Palma Fiocina palm beam cannons allow Destiny to deliver devastating attacks at extremely close range.

Bandai includes dedicated Palma Fiocina hand and effect parts, allowing the attack to be recreated on the finished model.

It’s one of those accessories that makes an enormous difference when you’re creating action poses.

Beam Shield

A clear Beam Shield effect is also supplied.

Mount it to Destiny’s hand-mounted shield generator and you’ve got another instantly recognisable effect from the machine’s extensive defensive systems.

Between the Beam Shield, physical shield, Wings of Light and multiple beam effects, there’s a lot of transparent plastic inside this box.

Movie-Accurate Spec II Colours

The included Destiny isn’t simply the standard HG Destiny thrown into a larger box.

Bandai moulded the Destiny Gundam Spec II in colours designed to reproduce its appearance in the movie, giving the machine the darker, more subdued appearance associated with its return in SEED FREEDOM.

That means you can achieve the basic Spec II appearance without needing to completely repaint the kit.

Two Display Bases Included

Considering the amount of equipment involved, Bandai sensibly includes two display bases along with dedicated display joint components.

These become particularly useful when displaying the enormous Zeus Silhouette independently or creating an airborne Destiny configuration.

With the Wings of Light deployed and Zeus equipment surrounding the Gundam, this kit really benefits from being displayed off the ground.

One Seriously Big HG Project

Don’t let the HG 1/144 label fool you.

This isn’t a small box containing a quick little Gundam build.

You’ve got:

Destiny Gundam Spec II.

The backpack.

Wings.

Weapons.

Effect parts.

Missile equipment.

Multiple enormous Zeus Silhouette components.

A linear cannon.

And two display bases.

The Zeus Silhouette’s 500mm+ length alone makes this a completely different proposition from a normal High Grade.

Perfect for SEED FREEDOM Fans

Destiny Spec II is an obvious companion to the other major machines from Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM.

Display it alongside machines such as:

  • Mighty Strike Freedom Gundam
  • Infinite Justice Gundam Type II
  • Force Impulse Gundam Spec II
  • Strike Freedom Gundam Type II
  • Black Knight Squad machines
  • Akatsuki Gundam

But if you’re recreating the movie’s final battles, Destiny Spec II deserves plenty of room.

Especially once Zeus comes out.

Why Add Destiny Gundam Spec II & Zeus Silhouette HG 1/144 to Your Collection?

Because sometimes subtlety is overrated.

The ZGMF/A-42S2 Destiny Gundam Spec II & Zeus Silhouette HG 1/144 takes an already heavily armed Gundam and gives it a weapons platform that’s more than half a metre long.

Even without Zeus, this is a loaded Destiny release. You get the Arondight, long-range beam cannon, Beam Rifle, Beam Shield, Beam Boomerangs, Palma Fiocina effects and those spectacular Wings of Light.

Then you add the Zeus Silhouette.

Opening missile hatches.

Massive boosters.

Independent support configuration.

And one absolutely enormous linear cannon.

For Gundam SEED Freedom fans, Shinn Asuka fans or builders who believe there’s no such thing as too much weaponry, this is one of the most spectacular HG displays in the Cosmic Era lineup.

Wings of Light deployed. Missiles armed. Zeus Silhouette connected. The Destiny Gundam Spec II HG 1/144 isn’t here to be subtle – it’s here to take over the entire bloody shelf.
