Bring devastating long-range firepower to your Universal Century collection with the RX-78GP02A Gundam (Type-MLRS) HG 1/144. Developed as part of the Harmony of Gundam project, this unique variant of the fearsome Gundam GP02A “Physalis” replaces its infamous nuclear armament with a devastating Multiple Launch Rocket System (MLRS), creating a heavily armed support mobile suit capable of saturating the battlefield with missile fire.

Based on Bandai Spirits’ excellent HGUC GP02A mould, this High Grade kit combines imposing proportions, impressive articulation and a host of heavy weapons, making it a standout addition to any Universal Century Gunpla collection.

A New Role for the Physalis

Originally designed as the nuclear-equipped RX-78GP02A Physalis, the Type-MLRS configuration reimagines the mobile suit for conventional warfare. Instead of the Atomic Bazooka, this version mounts a powerful Multiple Launch Rocket System on its backpack, giving it exceptional mid-range bombardment capabilities while retaining the GP02A’s massive shield and intimidating presence. It first appeared in the Harmony of Gundam design project and later featured in games such as Mobile Suit Gundam: Bonds of the Battlefield.

Classic HGUC Engineering

Bandai Spirits faithfully recreates the bulky silhouette of the GP02A while ensuring the kit remains enjoyable to build and pose.

Features include:

Excellent colour separation
Wide range of articulation
Highly detailed armour panels
Robust polycap joint construction
Screen-accurate proportions
Snap-fit assembly

The kit’s large frame gives it an impressive shelf presence while remaining stable in a variety of action poses.

Heavy Weapons Loadout

The GP02A Type-MLRS comes equipped with an impressive selection of battlefield equipment.

Included accessories include:

Backpack-mounted Multiple Launch Rocket System (MLRS)
Beam Bazooka
Large radiator shield

The MLRS features opening missile pod hatches, allowing you to recreate the mobile suit preparing to unleash a devastating rocket barrage. Builders can also choose between mounting the MLRS or the Beam Bazooka on the backpack.

Dynamic Display Possibilities

Thanks to its robust design and oversized equipment, the GP02A can be displayed in a variety of dramatic poses.

Recreate scenes such as:

Missile launch sequences
Beam Bazooka firing poses
Defensive shield stances
Ground assault operations
Universal Century battle displays

Its distinctive shield and broad proportions make it one of the most imposing High Grade kits in the HGUC lineup.

The GP02A’s large armour surfaces are ideal for modellers who enjoy adding extra detail.

Popular finishing techniques include:

Panel lining
Matte or satin top coats
Metallic thruster detailing
Chipping and battle damage

The oversized shield and missile pods provide plenty of opportunities for advanced painting and weathering effects.
