The big MGEX feature: “Extreme Radiance”
This time Bandai’s MGEX showcase is centred around light/radiance expression. The kit introduces Mechanical Core Plating on coloured plastic for the first time in Gunpla, while the gold frame uses multiple finishes including different gold plating treatments, Extra Finish and Real Metallic Gloss Injection.
The internal structure is based on the superb frame developed for the existing MGEX Strike Freedom Gundam, which Bandai promoted for having the greatest number of linked-frame articulation mechanisms in MG history. However, the Mighty Strike Freedom incorporates newly designed frame components rather than simply being a backpack swap.
Proud Defender
The major visual change is naturally the enormous Proud Defender.
In SEED FREEDOM, the Mighty Strike Freedom is created when the Strike Freedom Gundam Type II docks with the Proud Defender. The additional system enables capabilities unavailable to the Type II alone, including use of the forehead-mounted Disruptor.
For the MGEX, the Proud Defender’s wings feature a sliding/separation gimmick, adding mechanical movement to the enormous backpack rather than treating the wings as simple static panels.
Disruptor
Bandai has also reproduced one of the Mighty Strike Freedom’s most outrageous weapons: the forehead-mounted Disruptor.
The Convergent Heavy Nucleon Beam Cannon “Disruptor” can be displayed in its deployed state using interchangeable parts.
So yes.
This Gundam has reached the point where apparently its forehead needed a superweapon.
Futsunomitama Anti-Ship Sword
The enormous Futsunomitama Anti-Ship Sword is included.
This is one of the defining weapons of the Mighty Strike Freedom and dramatically changes the appearance of the model compared with the original MGEX Strike Freedom.
Alongside it, Bandai includes the Type 35 Modified Prototype Railgun, Beam Rifles and Beam Sabers.
Kira & Lacus
There’s another brilliant little detail.
The cockpit is designed to accommodate figures of both Kira Yamato and Lacus Clyne.
Bandai also includes a separate Lacus Clyne figure for the Proud Defender, plus a standing Lacus figure that can be positioned on the Strike Freedom’s chest to recreate the memorable scene from the movie.

This announcement is extremely fresh — detailed information only started appearing around 25–26 August 2026, which explains why it wasn’t in the older Bandai information I initially relied on.
So yes — MGEX Mighty Strike Freedom is real, and it’s a monster of a release.
If you’re adding it to Gunpla UK, I can now do the full long-form SEO product description in exactly the same style as the MGEX Strike Freedom page above, using these newly released specifications.
