Bring one of Neo Zeon’s most distinctive transformable Mobile Suits to your collection with the AMX-107 Bawoo RE/100 1/100 from Bandai Spirits.
Appearing in Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ, the Bawoo combines the aggressive styling of a Neo Zeon Mobile Suit with an unusual separation and transformation system, allowing the machine to split into two independent flight units – the Bawoo Attacker and Bawoo Nutter. Bandai’s RE/100 release recreates that transformation while delivering the size and visual impact of a 1/100 model without the complexity of a full Master Grade internal frame.
AMX-107 Bawoo
The AMX-107 Bawoo was developed by Neo Zeon during the First Neo Zeon War and represents one of the more unusual Mobile Suit designs seen in Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ.
With its bright red armour, enormous wing binders and sharp angular styling, the Bawoo looks every bit the high-performance Neo Zeon machine.
Its design also incorporates something considerably more ambitious than a conventional Mobile Suit:
It splits in half.
The upper and lower sections can separate and transform into two flight-capable units, giving the Bawoo a versatility that immediately separates it from most other Neo Zeon machines.
Glemy Toto’s Mobile Suit
The red Bawoo is particularly associated with Glemy Toto, one of the major figures within Neo Zeon during the events of Gundam ZZ.
His personal machine features the distinctive red colour scheme and the prominent “飛龍” – Flying Dragon – marking across the front armour.
Bandai recreates this marking on the RE/100 kit using a Tetron marking sticker.
It’s one of the defining visual elements of the red Bawoo and looks fantastic against the otherwise relatively clean armour.
RE/100 – 1/100 Scale Without the Master Grade Complexity
The RE/100 – Reborn-One Hundred range was designed to bring Mobile Suits that hadn’t necessarily received Master Grade treatment into impressive 1/100 scale model-kit form.
Rather than constructing an elaborate complete internal skeleton, RE/100 kits use a more streamlined, largely frameless structure.
That means:
- Fewer components than a typical Master Grade
- Faster construction
- Large 1/100 scale presence
- Detailed external armour
- Good articulation
- Colour-separated construction
- Plenty of potential for additional detailing
It’s a great format for builders who enjoy the presence of a 1/100 model but don’t necessarily want every build to become a massive MG project.
RE/100’s First Transformation & Combination Gimmick
The Bawoo holds an interesting place within the RE/100 lineup.
It was the first RE/100 kit to incorporate a transformation and combination system.
Bandai engineered the model so that its unusual separation system could be recreated without sacrificing the waist movement required for the completed Mobile Suit.
That’s particularly impressive considering the more streamlined construction philosophy behind the RE/100 range.
Bawoo Attacker
The upper half of the Bawoo transforms into the Bawoo Attacker.
The head, torso, arms, backpack and wing equipment reconfigure to create a dedicated flight form.
The large wing binders that give the Mobile Suit its distinctive silhouette suddenly make considerably more sense once the transformation is performed.
The result looks less like half a robot lying down and much more like an intentionally designed Neo Zeon attack craft.
Which is always the challenge with transforming Mobile Suits.
Bawoo Nutter
The lower half becomes the wonderfully named Bawoo Nutter.
Yes.
Nutter.
We’re not changing it.
While the Bawoo Attacker contains the upper body, the legs and lower torso form the Nutter, creating a second independent flight unit.
The Bawoo can therefore be displayed as:
Complete Mobile Suit
or
Bawoo Attacker + Bawoo Nutter
Action Base adapters are included so the transformed components can be mounted on compatible separately sold stands.
Beam Rifle
The Bawoo comes equipped with its distinctive Beam Rifle.
The long weapon complements the aerodynamic styling of the Mobile Suit and can be carried in conventional ranged-combat poses.
It also integrates naturally with the transformed appearance of the Bawoo Attacker.
Beam Sabers
Two Beam Sabers are included for close combat.
Equip one for a traditional melee stance or dual-wield them for something considerably more aggressive.
The Bawoo’s huge wing binders give it an especially impressive silhouette in close-combat poses.
Shield with Mega Particle Cannons
The Bawoo’s shield isn’t purely defensive.
Its distinctive design incorporates five Mega Particle Cannons, turning what looks like conventional defensive equipment into another weapon system.
The shield also becomes part of the Bawoo Attacker configuration when the Mobile Suit separates and transforms.
This makes it an integral part of both the Bawoo’s appearance and transformation rather than simply another accessory hanging from the arm.
Missile Equipment
Additional missile equipment is included, further expanding the Bawoo’s already substantial weapon loadout.
The standard RE/100 package includes two missile components alongside the rifle, shield and pair of Beam Sabers.
Combined with the Mega Particle Cannons and Beam Rifle, the finished Bawoo certainly isn’t short of ways to cause trouble.
Huge Wing Binders
The Bawoo’s enormous rear wing binders are arguably its most recognisable feature.
They’re responsible for much of the machine’s dramatic silhouette and play an important role in its flight configurations.
The wings feature movable elements, allowing their position to be adjusted when posing the completed model.
Viewed from behind, they give the Bawoo a particularly impressive profile that looks completely different from more conventional Universal Century Mobile Suits.
Excellent 1/100 Shelf Presence
This is where RE/100 kits really shine.
At 1/100 scale, the Bawoo has the physical presence you’d normally associate with a Master Grade while retaining a considerably more straightforward build.
The combination of the tall Mobile Suit, enormous wings and long rifle makes it appear even larger once fully equipped.
Display it alongside other 1/100 Neo Zeon machines and the vivid red armour ensures the Bawoo isn’t going to disappear into the background.
A Great Kit for Additional Detailing
The large armour panels make the RE/100 Bawoo an excellent candidate for additional modelling work.
Try adding:
- Panel lining
- Water-slide decals
- Metallic thruster details
- Wing shading
- Weapon detailing
- Custom Neo Zeon markings
- Subtle armour weathering
- Battle damage
- Matte top coat
- Metallic internal components
The red armour responds particularly well to darker panel lining and subtle shading.
You can keep the finished machine clean and anime-inspired or turn it into a heavily weathered Neo Zeon combat machine.
Build Your Gundam ZZ Neo Zeon Collection
The Bawoo looks particularly impressive surrounded by other machines from Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ.
Build a Neo Zeon display featuring machines such as:
- AMX-004 Qubeley
- AMX-006 Gaza-D
- AMX-008 Ga-Zowmn
- AMX-009 Dreissen
- AMX-011 Zaku III
- AMX-014 Döven Wolf
- NZ-000 Queen Mansa
And naturally you’ll need a ZZ Gundam standing opposite them.
Possibly a very large shelf as well.
An Important RE/100 Release
Bandai originally released the AMX-107 Bawoo RE/100 in November 2016.
Beyond finally giving Bawoo fans a proper 1/100 scale model, the kit was significant for the RE/100 range itself because of its transformation engineering.
It demonstrated that the simplified RE/100 construction philosophy didn’t necessarily mean sacrificing the defining mechanical gimmicks of the original Mobile Suit.

Why Add the AMX-107 Bawoo RE/100 1/100 to Your Collection?
The AMX-107 Bawoo RE/100 is exactly the sort of Mobile Suit the RE/100 range was made for.
It’s an important and distinctive design that deserves the visual impact of a 1/100 scale model, but Bandai keeps the construction more approachable than a conventional Master Grade.
More importantly, the kit doesn’t sacrifice the feature that makes the Bawoo special.
You still get the full separation and transformation into the Bawoo Attacker and Bawoo Nutter, along with the huge wing binders, Beam Rifle, Beam Sabers and distinctive weaponised shield.
Build it as Glemy Toto’s imposing red Mobile Suit, split it into its two flight configurations or add separate Action Bases and display the whole transformation system at once.
For Gundam ZZ fans, Neo Zeon collectors or anyone who misses Bandai’s RE/100 range, the AMX-107 Bawoo is a seriously distinctive addition to a 1/100 collection.
Big red Neo Zeon armour, enormous wings and a Mobile Suit that splits into something genuinely called the Bawoo Nutter – the AMX-107 Bawoo RE/100 1/100 is classic Gundam ZZ weirdness at its absolute best.
