The little buddy that could… still can (sort of). This ICON of the Universal Century is a “must have” for any 0079 collection.
PROS:
+ cheap (you can build a whole squad of GMs)
+ easy to build
+ a perfect blank slate for beginner scribers and painters
CONS:
– limited articulation
– lack of detail
– very visible seam lines (as per most older HGs)
Let’s face it, it is an older kit (2001). For modern standards, this should be considered as an EG rather than a HG, and all my cons amount to this consideration. You can feel the age in the design limitations of the joints. However, it is still a perfectly fine grunt, a testament that good designs (even if an aging one) can outlast its peers.
VERDICT: 4/5. You cannot fault an old model for technological advancement.
